Miele Refrigerators Compared to Similar Brands
Founded in 1899, Miele, a German brand, has been producing a variety of Miele appliances ever since. These appliances are known to be high-quality, innovative, and reliable. In fact, some Miele products, like Miele dishwashers and luxury Miele ovens are tested to the equivalent of 20 years’ use which makes the brand stand out as being even more reputable than competing brands. Miele stands by its tagline, “Immer Besser,” meaning “forever better” as they’re always working to make each appliance better for the consumer. Below we’ll cover the types of Miele refrigerators, major features, and the pros and cons of Miele refrigerators. We’ll also discuss buying considerations when it comes to purchasing from Miele and we’ll talk about how Miele compares to similar brands. Finally, we’ll review three best-selling refrigerators from the Miele MasterCool Refrigerator Series.
Types of Miele Refrigerators
To get started, here are 7 types of Miele refrigerators that are currently on the market. This includes built-in, french door, counter depth, column, bottom freezer, freezerless, and wine cooler refrigerators. Here’s a bit more information about each.
Built-in Refrigerators
Miele built-in refrigerators are great for creating a smooth appearance across your kitchen cabinetry. Because the refrigerator is built into the cabinetry, it sits flush with the cabinets and doesn’t stick out as traditional freestanding fridges do.
French Door Refrigerators
Miele french door refrigerators are designed with two top doors that each swing away from each other when opened. They typically have a bottom freezer drawer that pulls out for storing frozen goods.
Counter Depth Refrigerators
Miele counter depth refrigerators are similar to built-in refrigerators in that they sit close to the cabinetry, but they are still freestanding. Counter depth refrigerators look like built-in refrigerators but can be easily moved if necessary.
Column Refrigerators
Column refrigerators are very slim refrigerators that do not include a freezer or ice maker. They are great for small spaces. Miele column refrigerators offer 13.0 cubic feet of space.
Bottom Freezer Refrigerators
Bottom freezer refrigerators are self-explanatory as they are built with a freezer below the fridge compartments. Miele bottom freezer refrigerators may feature a freezer storage drawer or door.
Freezerless Refrigerators
Freezerless refrigerators include column refrigerators but can be just as big as a standard refrigerator too. For example, Miele produces some freezerless refrigerators that include 20.6 cubic feet of space.
Wine Coolers
Miele produces 24” stainless steel or panel ready wine coolers. They are slim but can hold 9 to 13 shelves of wine. Some models even include a SommelierSet.

Miele RefrigerationFeatures of Miele Refrigerators
Miele offers a variety of features that are built into most of their refrigerator models. Here are a few major features of Miele refrigerators that make them stand out from the crowd.
Push2open Doors
The Push2open feature allows users to own a Miele refrigerator without handles attached. Whether for looks or convenience, users can softly push the door to open it rather than pull on a handle.
MasterFresh
MasterFresh technology helps fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, and more stay fresh for a longer period. It does this by adjusting the air humidity, so the fridge provides the perfect climate for your food.
BrilliantLight LED Interior Lights
Shelves and drawers are beautifully lit up with the BrilliantLight LED Interior Lights. Long gone are the days when a large item blocks the fridge light, and you can’t see inside the rest of your fridge. With BrilliantLight, LED strips slowly light up as you open the fridge door.
Wi-Fi Compatible
Most Miele refrigerators can connect to Wi-Fi, allowing you to connect your phone to your fridge. This makes life extra convenient as you can integrate your appliance with the Miele app or other smart home solutions.
DynaCool
Another way Miele keeps a good eye on your food and drink is by making sure the air is evenly circulated throughout the entire fridge. This DynaCool feature can be found in Miele MasterCool refrigerators.
Pros and Cons of Miele Refrigerators
Like any brand, there are pros and cons to their products. Here are a few main pros and cons of Miele refrigerators to give you a better idea of the product overall.
Pro: ✅ Miele scores the best across all product categories in Germany
Per Miele, they have outdone themselves in their home market of Germany as locals rave and respect the Miele brand.
Con: ❌ Luxury comes with a price
Of course, any product that is valuable will cost more to purchase. Miele refrigerators are more costly than standard refrigerators, that’s a given. But with that said…
Pro: ✅ Less expensive luxury models compared to others
Even though Miele refrigerators are pricier than standard brands, they are still reasonably priced compared to many luxury refrigerator brands.
Con: ❌ Missing some major features
Although Miele offers a variety of features that are great, they are missing some features that customers really look for. For example, a water dispenser is not commonly seen on Miele refrigerators. Plus, the interior storage compartments and shelves are basic and don’t offer much more.
Buying Considerations: Who Are They For?
If you are looking for a high-quality and long-lasting refrigerator with touches of luxury and convenient technology, a Miele refrigerator is right up your alley. This type of brand isn’t the most expensive refrigeration brand and it’s also not the least expensive refrigeration brand. With its roots in Germany and its reputation for reliability, a Miele refrigerator is for those who want an appliance that will last for a long time. Miele is also a great brand for those looking for smaller units (column refrigerators) for apartments and freezerless refrigerators.
Miele Refrigerators Compared to Similar Brands
Miele is known as a high-end refrigerator brand similar to Bosch, although Bosch offers a wide variety of prices from low-end to high-end. Miele, on the other hand, keeps prices pretty stable within a smaller price range among refrigerator models across the board.
Some other refrigerator competitors are Thermador and Sub Zero. Compared to Sub Zero, for example, Miele refrigerators are much less expensive than comparable Sub Zero refrigerators. Yet, the two refrigerators have similar features. This makes Miele stand out as a brand that sells high-end refrigerators at a remarkable value.
Top-Rated Miele Refrigerators
Below are three Miele refrigerators that are currently on the market. They each feature a unique design but all include the best Miele MasterCool™ features. We’ll start with the largest refrigerator (19.4 Cu. Ft.) to the smallest (13.0 Cu. Ft.).
Miele MasterCool™ 19.4 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Built-In French Door Refrigerator
The Miele MasterCool™ Built-In Refrigerator includes 19.4 cubic feet of space and has a beautiful stainless-steel exterior with french doors. Some major features of this Miele refrigerator include Push2open (a handle less way to open the fridge doors), SmartFresh (helping foods stay fresher up to 3x longer), BrilliantLight LED interior lights, and a MasterSensor color touch display for controlling settings. You can even connect this refrigerator to Wi-Fi! Food can be stored anywhere in the fridge and be kept just as cool with the DynaCool feature which circulates air throughout the unit. As for the freezer, it is equipped with an automatic defrosting system and the ice maker can produce up to 150 ice cubes every day.

You’ll get the NoFrost system, BrilliantLight interior LED lights, Push2open doors, and DynaCool air circulation so all foods remain cool and fresh no matter where they are stored in the fridge. This Miele refrigerator also includes DuplexCool Pro which keeps the fridge and freezer from passing air between each other; each unit has a separate cooling circuit. As you may have noticed, this Miele MasterCool™ model is much slimmer than the previous french door model at only 29.88” wide. Since it’s a counter depth fridge, it will fit close to flush against nearby cabinetry.

Even though you don’t get a freezer with this model, you’ll still get a space-saving refrigerator with all the MasterCool™ features. These include Push2open, the ability to connect to Wi-Fi, BrilliantLight interior LED lights, DynaCool, and SoftClose (a soft door closing system).
